or do they only help their own members ?.
is there anything in their publications that seems to cast a negative view on feeding the poor ?.
Its a cult
do members of a congregation usually snitch on each other for "sinful behaviour" a fellow member is caught doing ?.
like smoking for example.
how common is this snitching in the name of jehovah and is it encouraged by elders or in propaganda works ?.
A key issue to note is that in a Cult what is truly defined as a "sin" is determined by the leaders of the Cult.
So for example in the Jehovah's Witnesses, if someone questions or disagrees with the leaders of the group (the Governing Body), that would be considered a sin and failing to report the sin would make a person eligible for God's wrath at Armageddon (according to the Governing Body).
why did you become a jehovah's witness ?.
initially upon entering the religion what were the positive things you experienced ?.
how did that particular way of thinking both benefit and harm you ?.
Why did you become a Jehovah's Witness? You answer first Gnosis, I'm shy.
is it my imagination or does the watchtower need a strong individual leader to come forward and take control they seem to be losing it big time.. i have just started re reading thirty years a slave of the watchtower and it seems to me that compared with judge rutherford and knorr there is just no strong personal driving force.
when rutherford took control he was young compared with todays leaders and so was knorr but todays team seem very lack lustre and undynamic..
They need a David Miscavige like leader; that way the Borg can go into a dramatic and violent death spiral.
so, i'm attending a funeral for someone that was in the local congregation today.. i told my mom what i planned on wearing- a cute, dark grey blouse and some nicely tailored black pants.
she just about lost it.. mom- "you can't wear pants, it's at the kingdom hall!!!".
mom- "well, i guess you could, but you would feel so awkward and uncomfortable.
Wear the pants. When questioned about it act curious, "Does the Bible say anything about women in pants"? If someone claims that pants aren't modest enough, you could politefully disagree while pointing out that you feel that they are modest and respectful.
The fact that someone would freak out about a women wearing pants shows the dangerous amount of conformity JW's are under.
today when i got home from doing some volunteer work, the hospital i work for has adobted a section of highway to cleanup, i made a very useful use of my time on a saturday morning, when i get home my roommate has watchtower/awakes and a few tracts laying on the coffee table so i knew the jehovah's witness were here today(lol).
my roommate is from thailand, she is asian and is learning the english language, if she mentions anything about the jw's i am trying to figure out what to tell her, how to approach it if she says something, also just by seeing all that liteature laying there, i have done so well with my anxiety but that just ruined my day, it brought that anger/anxiety back.
Send her to jwfacts.com if she seems curious about the recruiters who came to the door.
you live comfortably, though you are never certain what the future will bring.
you go to work at a business that has become the only thing you really know anymore.
you pull a schedule of forty to eighty hours a week.
Hopped on Wikipedia and saw article on Anti-pedophile activism here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-pedophile_activism One paragraph was in reference to the JWs the next was in reference to Anonymous. I had an interesting thought, since this vigilante group is now involved with catching pedophiles, I wonder if they have ever considered going after the database with the list of over 23,000 names.
This is exactly the information that will get Anonymous involved. Scientology is crumbling, I can certainly see Anonymous jumping to another cause. At this point they must be slightly bored of going after Scientology. We must pursue this angle.
i've been involved with the witnessess since 1976. my ex-wife was a baptised sister who fell in with the wrong crowd and left the fruth when she should have been disfellowshipped.
thats another story.
after returning home in 1980 from working in the u.s. navy, i contacked her parents and in 1982 started studying for ernest.
Welcome, stick around you'll be surprised what you can learn. I would also recommend you check out jwfacts.com.
You are correct that our savior Jesus Christ had a beard. The Watchtower's no beard policy is unbiblical. I been wondering if they've got this wrong what else could they be wrong about? Did you know that according to the Watchtower, Jesus Christ is not the Mediator between you and Jehovah?
what is the official watchtower policy?
how does it compare with state child abuse laws?
is the watchtower more concerned with their image to the "world" than they are to the safety of children within their religion?.
Mindblown, according to the link you sent clergy are exempt from reporting abuse revealed during a confession.
